Hand creams have long been a must-have product in almost every household. The frequency of use may vary from person to person but it is hard to imagine a person who has never used a hand cream in their lives.
Especially in climates where winters are dry, hands tend to suffer from dryness and cracks. Hand creams do a great job of preventing this from happening. As winters are very dry in Japan’s climate, hand creams become a necessity.
This article will be covering common ingredients used in hand cream formulations and introducing 3 points we think are important when choosing a manufacturer in Japan.

In this section, we will try to introduce the most common hand cream ingredients that are used in the Japanese cosmetic discipline.
Let’s take a deep dive into each of these ingredients.
Urea is a very common ingredient in Japanese-made hand creams.
It is expected to prevent the skin from losing its hydration. Also, urea is proven to be effective as a component that makes dead skin fall off and helps create smoother skin.
Vitamin A is known as an effective antioxidant that also increases skin immunity.
When the skin is exposed to too much sunlight, it causes a reduction in Vitamin A. Skincare products aim to make up for this loss by adding Vitamin A in their formulations.
However, as it is a strong ingredient, it might be irritating on some skins and therefore not be an ideal option for everyone.
Vitamin E is known for its effect to increase blood circulation.
It is also recognized as a component that accelerates skin cell turnover, resulting in a reduction of stains and freckles.
Ceramides are essential to the skin as they make up 50% of the intercellular lipids.
They also have the role of protecting the skin from external stimuli. When ceramides increase in the body, they make it less prone to rough skin.
Glycerin is an ingredient that has excellent hydration and can be expected to have the effect of preventing dry skin.
It is a popular ingredient commonly used in f hand creams for the purpose of moisturizing the skin.
However, for people who are prone to acne and pimples, glycerin may cause those to spread which makes it undesirable for some people.
Shea butter is a naturally derived ingredient and it is thought to be a very effective moisturizer.
Shea butter consists of stearic acid and oleic acid. Especially, stearic acid is considered effective in preventing skin oxidation and slowing aging symptoms.
Vaseline is also an ingredient with a high moisturizing effect.
Applying vaseline, -which is produced by increasing the purity of crude oil-, to the skin creates a protective layer that keeps the skin moisturized.
Placenta extract has an antioxidant effect and can be expected to have the effect of maintaining the elasticity of the skin and suppressing the generation of melanin.
Hyaluronic acid is one of the components that form human skin and plays a big role in making the skin elastic.
The use of hyaluronic acid in hand cream formulations is for increasing the moisturizing effect and preventing skin dryness.
In the section, we will be introducing the 3 key points we believe are important when producing a hand cream OEM product in Japan.
As this applies to any kind of product, this is the first step to start.
Having a clear product vision and concept will make it so much easier to create and market that product.
It is highly recommended that the product has strong points that differentiate it from others in the market.
Another important point is the minimum order quantity of OEM companies.
It is difficult for a new company to produce in large quantities at first.
Larger OEM companies tend to have higher MOQs which makes it difficult to work with them.
On the other hand, it may be difficult to reach small and mid-sized Japanese companies that can communicate in English and directly export their products overseas.
Even though hand creams are popular products, there are not too many small brands that produce them. The main reason is that it is harder to sell hand creams at high prices compared to facial skincare products.
For this reason, small and mid-sized OEM companies may not have a lot of experience in manufacturing hand creams.
We think it is important clients partner up with manufacturers who are experienced in manufacturing the products they want to produce.
In this article, we explain the main ingredients that are used in Japanese-made hand creams and then moved on to introducing 3 points we believe are important when producing hand cream OEM products in this country.
As a cosmetic OEM company, we have plenty of experience in a wide range of products, and hand creams are no exception.
