Recently we hear the word “ organic” a lot in many places.
There are organic skincare, organic cosmetics, organic food, etc., and many people are starting to be curious about those items.
Therefore, in this article, I would like to explain what “organic” means and ways to choose manufacturers, and so on.
We will also explain what kind of certifications are popular among organic items.

In this section, I would explain the meaning of “organic” and poplar certification for organic items and the common certification of organic items and they are important to know when you are trying to create your own private label organic cosmetics.
The definition of organic cosmetics is that formulated with vegetable raw materials from organic farming, which also means that they must always be accompanied by a lot of certification that shows their safety.

The COSMOS-standard ia an international certification for cosmetics and the COSMOS-standard signature is a consumer guarantee for organic that you can trust.
the COSMOS-standard defined the criteria that all companies must ensure consumers that all their products are organic and produced by highly qualified manufacturers.
There are several key sections of the COSMOS standards:
1, Origin and processing ingredients,
2, Product composition,
3, Storage, manufacturing and packaging,
4, Environmental management,
5, Labeling, advertising and
6, Inspection, certification and control.
The NATURE label was created in 2008, and it only allows a high level of natural and organic ingredients.
Nature divides the prohibited ingredients into three and those are natural substances, natural-identical substances, and derived natural substances.
It prohibits using of GMOs and in order to get NATURE certification is that all
products must comply with the Cosmetic Regulation (EC, No,1223/2009)
The BDIH certificate was created in 1996 and it is for pharmaceuticals, food supplements, health care items, and personal hygiene products.
This certification started in 2002 for organic cosmetics and is based in the UK and applied as an organic and sustainable certification in various fields.
This certification is a part of COSMOS standards.
ICEA is an Italian non-profit consortium involving institutions, associations, companies, and organizations. The ICEA certification goes beyond the organic certificate, and also a sustainable and fair economy and protection of the environment. This certification covers not only cosmetics but also food.
In this section, I would like to explain why the interest people have for organic cosmetics is increasing day by day.
Well known organic items are cosmetics and food. The reason why people choose organic more than before is that it is healthful and environmentally friendly.
Aa a lot of people already knew that pesticides can protect crops from pests and weeds and also enhance their growth, however, it could harm both the human body and the environment. Therefore, recently people are starting to make organic items because we know it is safe and for their bodies.
Now let’s talk about the manufacturing aspects more in this section.
I will introduce some tips to choose manufacturers when you are trying to launch your own private label organic cosmetics.
Since there are a lot of manufacturers, sometimes it is hard to choose. There are a lot of aspects that you need to focus on when you are trying to find manufacturers, but I will focus on two aspects for this time.

It’s important to inquire not only about whether or not the private label cosmetics manufacturer complies with any certifications you want to include on your branding but also about whether or not the items come within your line of ethics, as they will be associated with your brand.
Ask if the manufacturer adheres to required standards for any certifications for private label organic cosmetics, cruelty-free, natural, or eco-friendly products.
Quality control is quite important when you are trying to create organic cosmetics. There are a lot of things you need to consider, such as “Do they make their cosmetics with materials that are made within your business country or materials that are sourced from other countries?”
“Are they made entirely from natural, organic, vegan, cruelty-free, or Fair Trade-certified ingredients?”
If you think those attributes are important, it’s really necessary to find and use manufacturers that supply high standards.
Recently, a lot of Asian items are becoming popular and Japanese cosmetics are known as high-quality products. In the past, organic was not really recognized by people but it is getting quite popular right now. In this section, I would like to explain a brief history of organic cosmetics in Japan.
In the 1970s, Melanosis facial feminine was a social problem in Japan and in order to prevent such damage, the Japanese government selected “102 allergenic cosmetic ingredients” and the government obliged manufacturers to display them on product packages and containers.
This incident made people curious about ingredients and at the same time to become interested in safe and reliable cosmetics.
After this, “additive-free cosmetics” became so popular in Japan.
In 2001, like Europe and the United States, all cosmetics are obligated to list all ingredients. In the same year, an environmental organization made the term “organic cosmetics” as a term for safe and reliable items.
As this term got popular, the organic cosmetics market got bigger and bigger.
